How Pacific42 Took Shape
Pacific42 was born from a shift in direction, but not a shift in standards.
Before entering the trades, founder Junghoe Kim worked in client-focused financial services, helping individuals and families make informed decisions about financial well-being, long-term planning, and building wealth.
That experience shaped his standard for trust, clarity, documentation, and follow-through.
Over time, he became drawn to work that felt more tangible and lasting — work that could be seen, touched, and lived with every day.
What drew him to tile and renovation work was not only the finished surface, but the process behind it. Like financial planning, thoughtful tile work requires seeing the full picture, designing each step with intention, and making decisions that shape the final result.
A finished bathroom, shower, floor, or backsplash is not just another task; it becomes part of someone’s home, their daily life, and the value they live with.

The Meaning Behind Pacific42
Pacific42 is a name built on two ideas.
In Korean, the numbers 4 and 2 are pronounced “sah” and “ee,” forming “sah-ee” — 사이, a word that means “between.” Read together, Pacific42 becomes 태평양 사이, a phrase that evokes the space between shores of the Pacific — the journeys, stories, and connections formed across it, and the place where people, experience, and craftsmanship from different backgrounds come together.
The number 42 also carries a second meaning: a quiet nod to “the answer to the ultimate question.” For us, it reflects a commitment to thoughtful work — looking beyond the obvious, seeking the right solution, and building with purpose, care, and lasting value.
